It has been a bit since I have logged in myself. I can see if Natan is still around.

Re: Compressing images after creation

I believe that you can try, but I expect that it will break them. Be sure to have the correct extension or PING will not even try to restore the image. You only need to try to compress one file so a test is easy. Compress your .000 file and make sure it still says .000 (I believe that PartImage look...

Re: How does ping handle bad sectors?

I perfer Seatools myself, and only resort to any other tool when it can not be fixed by Seatools (although I still do my first check with it).

Re: How does ping handle bad sectors?

I would run SeaTools on the drive and have it "fix" whatever it can :)

Re: Defrag foul's lilo boot menu

You could try storing the Lilo boot sector to the recovery partition and then use something like GAG to boot instead of Lilo. GAG stores differently so the defragger should not affect it. This would result in 2 boot loaders, but could be a final fix for you.

I expect that it has a Floppy disk. Grab the Curtis Boot Disk and use it to make your NIC have PXE.

I would re-extract the PartImage.zip file into your share.

Re: Reimaging Windows XP

If you are planing to "Restore an Image" then you select only the "### CHOOSE THIS If you want a RESTORATION ###" option. Other than that, do not select it.

Re: imaging from 3-partition drive to 2-partition drive

Hi Curtis, OK, so the boot.ini edit will allow me to exclude the FAT (partition 1) from the image should I choose - wow I did not know that! The boot.ini file is for Windows. if you remove the FAT partition and fail to update that file it will be pointing to the wrong partition and will no longer b...

Re: imaging from 3-partition drive to 2-partition drive

Without the little FAT drive your boot.ini file will be buggered up. Either include it or fix your boot.ini file.

Re: How to remove files from the pxelinux.cfg dir automatically.

Make the PXE Default directory a shared directory. Then set the script in PING to delete the file using and of the CMD options. Since PING will have an IP by then, it should be nothing to delete that file.

Re: PXE boot with timeout for defaulting to HDD

At first I would believe that it is not possible, however, PXE can boot anything even if it was in a floppy form. Try to make yourself a XP 'Bootdisk'. Then you will need to use RaWrite to create an .img file of it. Then you use the memdisk bootloader as the kernel and the .img file you created as t...

I believe that you need at least 128MB RAM to run PING.
