PING unable to create file

Postby JBus » Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:41 pm

Hi,

I use PING on several PC's to my satisfaction (perfect program).
One PC won't cooperate.
When I boot the PC with the PING CDROM and fill out all the required items, I get the reaction:

"I 'VE BEEN UNABLE TO CREATE DIR [/MNT/DOS//..filename..]. THERE IS PROBABLY A PROBLEM OF SPACE OR PERMISSIONS HERE".

Is there somebody with a suggestion?

The most likely issue is a Driver incompatibility. Seeing as PING hasn't been updated in a while i'm now starting to run headlong into some funny issues that are hardware related on newer machines. Hope this helps in some way.

Cheers,
TQ

Thanks for the suggestion. The PC I'm having problems with is a 6 yr old DELL desktop (Pentium IV) with Windows XP Home Edition.
It should not have any problems with PING I guess.

Thanks anyway

Your right it shouldn't. if you try it again will you choose the option to close out to a shell when it asks you what you want to do when it finishes. Then copy the x.log file out of the /etc directory and post it here. That might give us an idea of what the problem could be.
